Oct. 29, 2020 (Springfield, MO)– Küat Racks will be joining the Time to Vote coalition this coming Tuesday, Nov. 3 pledging to close their doors for the entire election day to give all employees with the company time to vote or volunteer. Küat joins other outdoor industry juggernauts like Patagonia, REI, KEEN and Clif Bar, to name a few, in this effort.
Küat president and co-founder Luke Kuschmeader said this was an easy choice for the brand that employs 36 people in Missouri, a state where the majority of the population votes in person. Absentee ballots and voting by mail are available, but require a notary other than in the case of illness or incapacity.
“We want all our employees from the warehouse worker to our director of sales to have time to exercise their right to vote. We believe strongly that it is our corporate responsibility to stress the importance of democratic elections and provide whatever resources and time our employees need to get to the polls and vote.” Time to Vote is a non-partisan organization that identified the most common reason people gave for not voting was that they were “too busy with the demands of work and life”. To remove this barrier and to increase voter turnout, a diverse group of companies come together in 2018 to turn feedback into action. Küat will be closed for the entire day and will reopen for normal business hours on Wed. Nov. 4.
